One of the most familiar landmarks from the early days of El Cajon is the Knox Hotel. Stagecoaches
would stop and travelers would rest on their way to the Julian goldfields and the mountain country.
In fact, El Cajon was known as Knox Corners long before it became the City we know today. It still runs but there have been request to shut it down.
