The soft velvet padding rustles quietly as she scoots closer on the intimate little sofa. she uses cool baby soft hands to take yours and hold them between you. Her eyes drink you in with a merry twinkle but the artist in you recognizes the look of someone trying to see below a pieces exterior to the meaning behind it.
"Now" she smiles convivially "Tell me all about you, what on earth brings a scrumptious little thing like you to a war front of all places?"

I would blush at being called 'scrumptious'. "To be honest there isn't much to tell, I was embraced at the start of the 80's but my sire grew tired of me quickly. And while this may be a war front, it is still new...not a lot of entrenched toes to step on accidentally."
Looking down at the ground I would quiet my tone; "I'm not much into big schemes or anything, deep down I'm still just a kid trying to make my way in the world."

Victoria would chortle lyrically patting Dale's hand where she has then clasped together. "It will be a bit hard to think of you as a child sweetling knowing you are over forty year on this earth but i will endeavor to try. And i must say shame to your sire to make you think we are a clan of schemers. No toreador i know would be so base and tacky as to scheme. We socialize, it keep the others in touch with one another and with the world can we be blamed if they are horrible at getting along without us?" she say with a defensive shrug.
"Now tell me of your art? what will the city be enjoying of yours?"

"Oh...uh I didn't mean our schemes. It's just that, I was more referring to the schemes of others. One misstep and you can screw up someone else's plans by accident then they are all over you..."
Looking away to recompose myself for a moment before replying to the question I look back and try to keep the smile on, "I write..."
Thinking to myself of how this is going whole meeting is going totally awry.

She nods solemnly "Yes so we must know what are friend are up to and there by avoid missteps, but you needn't have that worry just yet the court is barely in place and a rather straight forward bunch." she waves a hand dismissively.
"More importantly what would i have read of yours?"

I would go to speak, stop. go to speak again, pause once more then have a look of genuine shame on my face. "I...to be honest...I doubt you have read any of my work."

Victoria would withdraw he hands and lean back the warm almost familial atmosphere evaporating.
"Well now that is a bit disappointing, I had so hoped for a grand party to exhibit your gift to the cities kindred. They really are wonderful ways to break the ice." she sighs playing with a near by vine on the railing.
"Is it that you have published nothing? or simply nothing of note?"

"Neither, they are just in genres you would not read." My tone gets a bit more defensive. "Some of my books are so beloved that they tend to go up in value. For example a couple of the Doctor Who novels I wrote in the mid-nineties consistently sell on eBay for between 175 and 250 each second hand. Not bad considering their original 12 dollar tag... But yes Doctor Who, I am a genre writer. Star Wars, Star Trek....anything like that, anything that is young and hip to use tired terms. I am also the ghost writer that never is said to be a ghost writer."
I stand up, the pride in my work giving me resolve. "I may not be a famous, jet setting author of award winning literature...aside from that one book but what I write is beloved by people. The type of books that bring people together, give people imagination, are talked about and debated. That and consistently sell...and resell... But my statement of you not reading them isn't based on their quality, just experience that my Elders never sully themselves with pop culture."

She smirks at he arrogant posture and prideful defense of his work. Looking back at him now.
"So old and out of touch am i that i can't appreciate pop culture? Do you know what my craft is? My judgmental little fire ball? I am an actress and yes i have been on Doctor Who." she chuckles
"Sit yourself back down there is no need to play the feisty one with me."

My shoulders slump; "I...I'm sorry, it is just over the years I find myself dismissed without the scope of my success being measured. I didn't write Catcher in the Rye or for quaint pop culture I didn't write the Hunger Games why pretend to them that I have ever had success at that point?" I would sit back down, "I honestly meant no offence."

"Well your the one that lead me to believe you didn't do anything special dear. You sold your self short to me before the nature of your art was even reviled. and i happen to know are iron fisted leader likes pop culture. It not the normal party but i do enjoy a challenge. and themes"
He warm grin comes back like dawn breaking. and she take dales hand again, as she speaks excitedly
"depending on the largest body of your work were you thinking like a fan convention or what....oh will have to inventory and test the waters for what of yours is the most popular locally....are you working on anything now?"

"Well the current pen name I use is Drew Karpyshyn; who is actually a relatively young writer physically who has yet to appear at any conventions. People are not sure what he looks like to be honest because Del Ray doesn't even attach a face to the back cover. People say he is the man who will revitalize the Star Wars written franchise..." I smile to myself with confidence. "Though in the long term I wonder if my Old Republic era stuff will damage the companies Fate of the Jedi era? I mean it has started to but that is because that current stuff is crap. Anyways under that name, I am the one that wrote the books for the Mass Effect franchise. Less of an impact, but he is said to be the father of the world that lead to the sequels being born. Oh man did that ever make EA angry."
I chuckle; "My next set of work is quite the challenge, quite the unbelievable challenge. Insomniac games is offering me a very large sum of money to do for their Resistance franchise what I helped do for the Mass Effect franchise."

"Oh dear" she says tapping her angular chin. "I must confess I don't know much about the star wars genre out side of seeing the movies. this will make planing an event difficult but like i said i like unique problems. we will have to get together with my event planer and see what we can come up with."

"What is the event suppose to do exactly? Like what is it's main goal?"

"The goal is simple an enjoyable meet and greet while displaying your talents for your new city mates. We will host it so we have to provide the entertainment. This will also possible establish you as a kindred A Lister, if it goes well."
